Hodgkinson Street, LLC was a proud sponsor of the Multnomah Bar Association Young Lawyers Section (YLS) YOUth FILM Project. The YOUth FILM Project was the capstone of the MBA YLS's Community Law Week, which was held from April 27 to May 2, 2013. The week involved a series of events dedicated to teaching the public about the legal system, explaining legal resources available to the community, and promoting the positive role of attorneys in society. The Community Law Week events also aimed to promote awareness about the American Bar Association's Law Day theme this year: “Realizing the Dream: Equality for All.”
The YOUthFILM Project is an exciting forum for elementary, middle school, and high school students from all over Oregon and SW Washington to show off their creativity, knowledge, and skills by producing short films on a chosen civics theme. The filmmaking teams of up to five students incorporated this year's ABA Law Day theme and included in their films topics such as equality in the eyes of the law, equality in the future, influential persons or events from the civil rights movement in American, and how injustice everywhere threatens justice everywhere,
The top films were screened for the public during Community Law Week on May 2, 2013, at the Hollywood Theatre in Northeast Portland. Honored guest, Oregon Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas A. Balmer, presented the awards and prizes to the student filmmakers. Hodgkinson Street, a top medical malpractice and civil litigation law firm in Portland and Vancouver, were proud to participate in this event as a major sponsor this year.
